There are other forums for other conditions, we don't want to confuse things for new members.
Private messaging was abused and I don't think we should get it back, I feel at the moment that would still happen.

No its not a good idea .I have overlaps some related to R.A some because the iummue systym is wonkey some because my body does not work .And not related
But too see me i look fine .And on hardley any drugs as MTX does it all .And moblie .But i have bath aids perching chair and a wheelchair as had too use them .Everyone is differant .One overlap is rare and luckey to have a rummie who has seen it and has treated it before .Some related things don,t show on blood tests and show up as something else .Some times one thing can flare sometimes it all can flare or one can be the domatite one .
My R.A apps i now have double ups 2 docs as they are not sure .And one masks the other .No its not a good idea to discus on here .Its better to enjoy what good days i have .Not trying to explain somthing a doc can,t explain fully .As its tricky balance .
Please no not on here thanks

Have you developed a stutter Christine? Is that a related condition?
A friend is someone who knows all about you but loves you anyway!

To be fair Corrine, what was said was that people don't normally want to join pre diagnosis, not that they can't join.
I wouldn't have thought to join something like this before I was diagnosed, unless like you I was pretty sure that it would turn out to be RA that I had.

Actually Doreen, we did have someone join who was trying to advocate something illegal. Don't think he had RA .

Please can we have named moderators - this will support people much better, RA is stressful enough without not knowing who the moderators actually are......

perhaps not too much focus please on too many other conditions...
As others have already said - there are other forums available for other specific conditions, it could become very confusing...........,

THANK YOU, Stewart!!! For making me laugh out loud, we need much more of that on here........... even though hubby now thinks i am slightly crazier than he already thinks i am.... ;)

Also, does anyone understand what a persistent topic is?
As in the box i have only just noticed above near "post a reply" that says persistent topics are not pruned......?

Have I had one sip too many of my red wine, ...........is this some cryptic gardening advice?
or
am i just a little slow on the uptake tonight...........?

Anyway, NAMED Moderators please, that is top of my wish list,

& Here's hoping that a happy forum is not too far away, raising my glass to absent friends xxXxx

I don't see a persistent topic thingy?----it's all got soooo confusing. I do however see a 'moderate' button????

And yes I too would like to see named moderators please. It's good forum etiquette, and much more friendly.

Ah I've found it.
It's above the box where you write your reply, after you've clicked on "post reply".

Don't know what it means thoughConfused

Funny really that everytime anyone wants the moderators named, there is never a response but on other topics you get a response.

Can someone please explain to 'simple' me why it is necessary to have 'stealth' moderators who flit in and out and cull members but dont respond to serious questions. I think it is important to have open communications on a forum otherwise it just doesn't work. Will await a reply with interest.....and please dont worry about suspending me as I hardly ever post anymore so no one would notice if I disappeared!

i think perhaps at the moment moderators are available Mon - Fri 9-5?

If that is the case, do we need some more to be available for out of hours moderating?

What is the criteria for being a moderator and how would someone go about becoming a moderator?

I think I've worked it out now, as Liz & maybe others have too ......... that there's only one moderator, Moderator 1, which I'm guessing is Sally and she only moderates during working hours, but I don't know yet whether that's 9-5 Monday to Friday or whether she works part-time. Therefore any member could, potentially, post something contentious on here anytime after 5.01pm on a Friday afternoon, (and edit or delete it before 9.00am on a Monday) totally oblivious to Moderator 1/Sally who would be off enjoying her weekend, until she moderated after 9.00am on a Monday morning. No doubt Sally will reveal all (or nearly) tomorrow morning after 9am???

BarbieGirl you don't need to apologise for anything! The main aim of my original post on Friday was to attempt to get Moderator 1 thinking about the interpretation of any proposed new forum rules. Badly drafted rules will only be misconstrued, resulting in further problems.

Just wondering.....

Are we all moderators now?
Only, it's just that I looked downwards this time and now have a "lock topic" button at the bottom of page..........????????

Ooer i dont like this.... i dont like it at all......

but maybe if i understood a bit more and felt more included then i'm pretty sure I could feel better about things.......?

.... and if the moderators are named, please - that will definitely be helpful, I have found from limited experience of other forums that this works very well xx

It would seem that this is the only thread that can be locked, moderated etc., if you look under where it says post reply etc., ther are none on the other threads/. Very strange!!!!!
